Abstract:

Digital Economy is a term for all of those economic processes, transactions, interactions and activities that are based on digital technologies, which is different from the internet economy in that the internet economy is based on internet connectivity, whereas the digital economy is more broadly based on any of the many digital tools used in today's economic world. Four main factors are obtained through hierarchical clustering of 16 original indicators. Factor analysis method is used to calculate the variance contribution rate of each component, and then the comprehensive evaluation index of digital economic development is calculated for measuring the digital economic development level. The development of digital economy improves human capital structure, raise technical level, improve all factor productivity, and reducing the cost of production and trade, resulting in higher participation degree in GVCs for most countries. Empirical evidence from representative developed & developing countries proves the result from theoretical derivation, which indicates that the penetration of digital economic development into the global value chain system not only changes the location choice of economic activities in space, but also changes the source and distribution mechanism of value-added economic activities, and strengthens the first-mover advantage of those developed countries with outstanding technological innovation to a greater extent.
